Jimmy Giuffre tribute

immy Giuffre (1921-2008) was a composer and woodwind player from the United States.

This tribute is a celebration of his music which still today sounds so simply powerful and brillant. Not many people, even between the jazz musicians, are aware of the beauty of his message, our aim is to spread it to everybody.

During this concert we will play some music from his early trio period “Jimmy Giuffre 3” (1957 Atlantic records) with Jim Hall on guitar and Ralph Pena on Bass, which was one of the most interesting bands of the West Coast.

Each song of this trio is like a child’s tale, so simply brillant, it is one of the first examples of the bond between chamber music and jazz music.
